Nordic Giants

Venue: Talking Heads Southampton. 31/10/2017. Rather appropriate band to watch on Halloween/Samhain on superficial level. However Nordic Giants are far from superficial. The quite spectacular stage show, whilst carrying, in some instances, a message does not bore or bludgeon the crowd. Partly because it it tempered with some humour, for example, in the animation about 2 undertakers. We have "seen" Nordic Giants 4 times in all, this being the 1st time in a smaller venue. Probably the best experience. The other 3 performances were at festivals and at 2 of these it was spoilt for my wife who is quite small by a combination of the tall arm folders, selfie chicks and self important tablet carrying types.Consequently she could not see and could have stayed at home with a cd and a good amp. Maybe Southampton crowds are more kindly but everyone in the venue (and it was a good turn out for a Tuesday) seemed to experience the full spectacle not just us.

Amazing, sad, terrifying, beautiful, inspiring, hopeful and wonderful all at once. A true gem of performance art. The quality of the musicianship is astounding. Definitely a must see. I can't wait until they come around again!
