The Knack have been a band for a long time, and their fans have been there from the very beginning. They pour into this room in their hundreds, sharing sweet nostalgia that attaches to this band. The Knack is one of those bands that have had many stints over the last thirty years where they’re together, where they’re not, almost like an on and off relationship in a word. Either way, these rock and roll heavyweights have their lasers set to stun as they take to the stage for this performance here tonight. “Baby Talks Dirty” opens the set with great style; the riffs of the slightly driven guitar fill the atmosphere, and the audience response with ruckus applause.
“Good Girls Don’t” is the song that follows – I’m seeing a little bit of a thematic performance, their songs begin formulaic, keeping this party going, keeping these patrons happy. Of course, they are due to perform their biggest single yet, “My Sharona”. There is applause from the previous song, “Pay the Devil”, the octave riff is strummed on the guitar and before you know it, the whole band is all in and the audience are jumping off the floor and bouncing of the walls. Complete and utter nostalgia.
