GREAT performance by the band. Speed is an incredible singer live. He sounds just like on the records.
BUT... what a short concert, and what a shitty setlist!
They were the headliners of the night, with 2 local bands opening for them, so you'd expect around 90 minutes, right? No, just 1h08m (yeah I counted). Way too short.
And the setlist was too focused on new stuff. They played only 4 songs that aren't from the last three albums. All other songs were released in the last 6 years, even though they have a career that's over 20 years long.
I don't know, that kind of bugged me. I was waiting for this show for over a year (literally! They announced it in October 2018 for a March 2019 performance, but it got postponed, so I've been waiting ever since) and those things made it lacklustre. But like I said, the band was great, especially Bjorn!
Soilwork was as great as ever! I only wish the sound guy at the Summit Music Hall wouldn't just leave everything maxed out while he's texting. He really did a disservice to the guitars.
Soilwork put on a great show. I have been wanting to see them for a very long time and no other venues promoted this kind of unique metal scene like Empire. This is a band I certainly recommend seeing!
