Troy Pierce is one of those fearless DJ’s who isn’t afraid to try something new with his sound and then go on to showcase it to the masses. I quote “I like making and playing weird music for weird people – those WTF tracks that stick in your head as a sound from another dimension”. I’ve got to say, his setup does look pretty complex with a couple of mixers, a couple of a macbook pros, a few sampler pads lying around, all of which are being used.
The atmosphere is a fun one, with everyone being appreciative of the music before them; a lot of them are very engaged, almost taking notes whilst there are others completely lost in the music through each piece of music. “Softcore” is a highlight for the audience with it’s infectious melodies, and obscure basslines. Pierce is a fearless DJ, and I think others should follow suit from this guy. He really knows what he’s doing.
