Matthew Morrison is an absolute giant in the entertainment industry now being one of the lead characters of the American hit television series, Glee, and having been on the West End long before that. The tension before Morrison makes his appearance onstage is thick, but exciting nonetheless. Morrison has done pretty well for himself with his debut album being released in 2011 and achieving the 24 spot at its peak. It also made it into the charts in the UK and Australia, which of course is such a huge achievement, especially when you’re main focus is a hit television show! Morrison walks onstage to the opening chords of his hit single “Summer Rain”. One of the things that I wasn’t aware of because watching him is that he is such an amazing dancer, of course this is no surprise when he attended New York University’s Tische school of the Arts for two years before dropping out and joining the Broadway adaptation of Footloose, a musical that features a whole lot of dancing. He also landed the role of Link Larkin in the Broadway production of Hairspray.
Tonight becomes a little bit of a variety performance with Morrison performing a mixture of show tunes and his own music – he is after all, touring for his album, “Where It All Began”. Every single song that this entertainer performs has so much energy injected to it, delivering with so much confidence as though this is exactly what he was born to do.
