Mona have been a band since 2007, and worked extremely hard securing their name amongst record labels such as Island and Mercury Records. Residing now in Nashville Tennessee, the band have risen to fame appearing as part of the BBC’s Sound of 2001 poll. They have made quite a splash over on this side of the Atlantic too, where they performed their songs “Teenager”, “Listen to Your Love” and “Lines In the Sand” on BBC’s Later… with Jools Holland. Tonight is all about the music from their new album, “Torches & Pitchforks”, however they do throw in material from their career that got them here in the first place. Opening with “Teenager”, the driven angsty riffs fill this atmosphere, getting everyone to dance. “Shooting the Moon” is a worthy sophomore song to showcase. It is fantastic when they sing “Goons (Baby I Need It All)” to an audience that hasn’t heard their music before. It goes down fantastically, with the audience participation making everyone feel like they’re a part of something special.
