Having formed in York way back in 1990, there’s no real question that Shed Seven represent one of the great success stories in British rock music of the past couple of decades; starting out as a straightforward alternative rock outfit, they went on to ride the wave of Britpop to serious acclaim; they adapted their sound just intelligently enough for the critics to consider them a part of that scene, but any suggestion that they reinvented themselves entirely purely to make themselves a more viable commercial proposition would be completely unfair. They continued to make records into the noughties, before splitting in 2003 after the departure of guitarist and songwriter Paul Banks and dwindling fortunes that had seen them split from their record label. After reforming for a fourteen date comeback jaunt around the UK in 2007, though, with Banks on board, they’ve continued to tour the UK pretty much annually to rapturous receptions from crowds that consistently sell out academy sized venues. Their setlists span all four of their pre-split albums, and include material from recent EPs, too - a new full-length is now well overdue, so look out for some extensive touring when they do finally manage to put out a follow up to 2001’s Truth Be Told.
Amazing. Played all the great tunes plus some new material from their latest album. Band were tight. Rick was class between tracks keeping us entertained with his charm and humour. Always the same with the sheds... should've been bigger! The band gave it all and Rick showed great warmth and appreciation for the crowd and I felt he was sincerely grateful for the turn out... something you don't often see these days (other bands/artists turning up get through the tunes and get off quick). Best live show for some time!
Just a fantastic concert a packed Brixton Academy the atmosphere was electrifying. They sang all their classic hits and a few from their 2017 album Instant Pleasures. But it was all about the 1990s I think everyone felt 19 again. Shed Seven are the epitome of Britpop Band their in that League with The Roses, Charlatans, Blur, Inspiral Carpets, Oasis, Ocean Colour Scene and Supergrass. It be great if they did All Points East Fest. 2020. Witter, Banks, Tom Gladwin and Leach. Legends.
Fronted by charismatic frontman, Rick Witter, Shed Seven were on great form playing to a packed O2 Academy Leicester. A great gig with all the hits and fantastic support from 12 year old guitarist Tom Mouse Smith playing some classic 90s anthems - a tip for the future!
I haven't managed to see the Sheds for a long time and the Bristol show didn't disappoint. Best concerts I've been too in a while, and I go to a lot! They're improving with age, Rick was entertaining, lots of crowd pleasers - brilliant.
As always shed seven never fail ! Absolute class ! Will carry on seeing them while ever they keep touring brilliant night ! We even got after show wrist bands but had to leave early unexpected so disappointed ! Thank you S7 xx
Absolutely brilliant. A good mix of the new album and the classics. Hadn't seen Cast before but they got the evening going and was really impressed with them. Then Shed Seven came on and the place went completely crazy.
If you want a band that plays great 90s music with the crowd going wild then Shed 7 are that band!!!!!
Great banter from the lead singer gives a laugh and pushes the crowd.
Fantastic night.
Cast were great too.
