Born in Havana, Cuba, Gloria Estefan soon moved to Miami, Florida, US, due to her family having to flee the country following the Fidel Castro-led coup d'etat in 1959. By 1975, Estefan had become a part of the band, Miami Sound Machine, whose original material fused pop, disco and salsa to great acclaim. Local success grew into establishing a large Hispanic following, also breaking into the european dance charts with "Dr. Beat" in 1984.
Their first English-speaking album, "Primitive Love," in 1985, found the band several Top Ten hits, before then creating the triple-Platinum selling "Let It Loose," changing their name to Gloria Estefan & Miami Sound Machine. As the decade came to a close, the act found an endless stream of hits, with only a car accident that caused Estefan severe injury stopping their run of success.
Having recovered, 1991's "Into the Light" brought Estefan back into the charts, continuing to find commercial success. In 1993, she returned to her native tongue with "Mi Tierra," which earned Estefan a Grammy Award for 'Best Tropical Latin Album.' Latin-pop rose to greater popularity as the decade continued, with Estefan leading the way for the likes of Ricky Martin and Enrique Iglesias. She had made an incredible number of sales by 1999, selling over 50 million globally.
New music arrived in 2000 with "Alma Caribeña," another Spanish-language album, with the single, "No Me Dehes De Querer" earning Estefan another Grammy for 'Best Music Video.' "Unwrapped" followed in 2003, failing to match previous successes, with Estefan taking a step back from music for a number of years, instead just releasing number of compilation records which kept her popularity alive.
In 2007, Estefan had created an album of new music, "90 Millas," which was warmly received, returning the vocalist to the charts, becoming one of the biggest Latin-pop albums of the year. In 2011, Estefan unleashed the dance-pop effort, "Miss Little Havana," which featured production from Pharell Williams. Looking towards the Great American Songbook, Estefan recorded an album of these classic standards in 2013, titled, "The Standards."

Gloria Estefan is my Goddess of Music. I have seen every concert tour since early 80's and she has the most beautiful voice ever. Complimented with classy, sexy, romantic, fun, exciting, earthy, kind, giving and so much love. I flew to NYC from San Diego/ San Jose CA and I made this trip into a NYC long weekend adventure!
Emily was awesome and love to see her growth into adulthood. Happy soon-to-be 21st Bday Emily! IM BUYING YOUR ALBUM!!!!
The actors of Gloria's GET ON YOUR FEET was a treat BUT the adult Gloria should not change Gloria's songs, beat rhythm or tempo when singing her songs. Don't sing your style when you supposed to be acting/performing to be Gloria. When you get to Do your own tour, then do your thing but honor the Goddess of Music and sing it like GLORIA, girl.
I was soooo excited to see Gloria I was shaking from anxiety & emotion!!! You make me happy Gloria! I know you don't your anymore so when I saw this chance I bought my tickets within minutes of going on sale. Great performance. Thank you for sharing your grace and beautiful songs with the world. You are truly gift from God. Love you Gloria, Emilio, n Emily.
Also, I'm a Californian Mexican woman Promoter and if you wish to come to CALI, I would love to do your tour.
God bless!

I will be the first to admit that I did not choose to see Gloria Estefan live and had in fact been dragged to her show by my mother. She had come to town to play at the Hollywood Bowl and my mother had jumped on getting tickets but couldn’t quite get my dad to go, so she took me instead. I didn’t fight too hard, mainly because I knew that almost any show at the Hollywood Bowl would at least be decent, and I grew up listening to Estefan via my mom. We got there early to beat the traffic and had seats towards the back, meaning we couldn’t really see Estefan outside of an ant-sized figure on stage. These things didn’t matter however, because as soon as the instruments started up for her opening song, it was still an epic experience. The amount of live drums and instrumentation meant that the perfect acoustics of the venue were used to its fullest potential; not to mention, Estefan has such great energy that it is contagious. Her band was magnificent, and you can’t not love having a full brass section, and tons of different drums. She loves what she does, and shows it through her songs, but also when she addressed the crowd, constantly thanking them for their love and support. At the end of the show as we were walking out, I was really glad that I hadn’t put up a fight to go with my mom to the show.
Gloria María Milagrosa Fajardo García de Estefan or just Gloria Estefan for short is one of Cuba's most recognisable musical exports worldwide and has gone on to have a glittering career due to the strength of her Latino/Tropical sounds. Her albums have sold over 100 million copies worldwide so it is no wonder that Gloria has been touring for the best part of three decades in order to reach her loyal, supportive fanbase.
The devoted masses cheer and scream as the lights dim and Estefan's band slowly take their places before the lady of the moment appears centre stage. A warm personality from the offset, she looks delighted to be there and quickly gets to work demonstrating her vocal prowess. An expert mashup of 'If We Were Lovers / Conga' shows both her balladic abilities as well as the danceable tones of her tropical sounds. The audience remains enthused and captivated throughout the evening applauding rapturously at the closure of every single track. Gloria says a sincere thank you before wrapping up with 'Coming Out The Dark' a clear highlight of her long discography.
