Releasing his debut single ‘A Bay Bay’ in 2007 provided Hurricane Chris with a top ten chart entry. Soon his rapid lyrical ability spread like wildfire which helped his debut album ‘51/50 Ratchet’ score number 24 in the US Billboard charts. The album released through Polo Grounds Music and J Records, defined his distinctive crunk rap sound which was reflective of its popularity in his hometown of Shreveport, Louisiana. His follow up album ‘Unleashed’ featured the R&B sensation Mario and rapper Piles and made it to number 20 in the US Top Rap Album chart in 2009.
Performing in intimate settings like small sweaty nightclubs, Hurricane Chris effortlessly intensifies the electric energy. Joined on stage by a vast number of his rapper friends including Get Rich Rock and Xplzive Ent, the audience go wild as they get lost in the beats. When Chris performs there are no boundaries between him and the crowd as he meanders towards the front of the stage, dancing with the adoring female fan base commandeering the front row as they wave their arms back and forth. Freestyling is an integral part of any Hurricane Chris show and a nice interlude between some of his more notable tracks like ‘Playas Rock’, ‘The Hand Clap’ and ‘Halle Berry (She’s Fine)’. When he gets into the zone, he mesmerises the crowd as he spits lyrics faster than water rapids. Rushing through like a storm, Hurricane Chris battles through his discography and almost certainly leaves his mark.
